Purdue Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program 2025

Undergraduate students enrolled full-time in a bachelor’s degree program at Purdue, another U.S. institution, or an international institution.
Brief Overview
An immersive, 11-week research experience designed to encourage undergraduate students to pursue advanced education and research careers.
Participants conduct research under the guidance of mentors and develop technical and communication skills through professional development workshops and seminars.
Details of the Fellowship
Host Institution: Purdue University
Location: West Lafayette or Indianapolis campuses
Program Period: May 26, 2025 – August 8, 2025
Symposium Presentation: July 30, 2025
Stipend: $6,500 (paid bi-weekly)
Additional Benefits:
$2,500 housing allowance for external students
Up to $1,000 travel reimbursement for eligible participants

Eligibility Requirements
Full-time undergraduate students at Purdue, U.S., or international institutions.
First-time participants in the SURF program.
Completed at least one semester/quarter at the time of application.
Enrolled as an undergraduate for at least one semester following the program.
Minimum GPA of 2.8/4.0 (or equivalent).
Rising juniors and seniors are eligible; Purdue and Purdue-Indy rising sophomores are also eligible.
Ability to actively participate in most program activities.
