HUCE organizes extracurricular programs to allow fellows to get to know each other and their work, and all fellows attend biweekly dinners with Harvard faculty and Harvard faculty.
Finding a Host:
- Candidates should start early to establish a relationship with a Harvard faculty member to host their research.
- The host will act as a mentor, providing office space and basic administrative support.
- Faculty members make a significant commitment by agreeing to host.
- Successful candidates will be enthusiastically recommended by their proposed host.
- Each applicant’s host must submit a letter of support (maximum two pages) to the selection committee detailing their commitment to the research and candidate.
- Harvard faculty members may conduct their own selection process to recommend one or two applicants to the selection committee.
- Applicants unfamiliar with Harvard faculty can find potential hosts on HUCE’s web pages, organized by academic areas and topics.
- Faculty members from any discipline can serve as hosts, even without prior experience in environmental research or HUCE.
- Faculty members who hosted 2024 fellows, including Frank Keutsch, Boris Kozinsky, Mark C. Elliott, and Eli Tziperman, are not eligible to host fellows in 2025.
