Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  1. Be applying for full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programs as new international students.
  2. Hold a conditional or unconditional offer of place from the University of Waikato, including pathway programs like:
    • Certificate of Attainment in English Language
    • Foundation Studies
    • Certificate of University Preparation
    • International Diplomas (Business/Computer Science)
    • Diploma of Postgraduate Preparation (Pre-Masters).
  3. Have a minimum GPA equivalent to B+ in their qualifying degree.
  4. Not be:
    • Currently enrolled at the University of Waikato.
    • Sponsored by another body.
    • Joining under Guaranteed Credit Arrangement, study abroad, or student exchange programs.

Scholarship Values

  1. Undergraduate Students:
    • 1-Year Tenure: NZD $2,500–$8,000 applied to tuition fees in the first year.
    • 2-Year Tenure: NZD $2,500–$12,000, with a maximum of $8,000 in the first year and $4,000 in the second year.
    • 3-Year Tenure: NZD $2,500–$15,000, with a maximum of $8,000 in the first year, $4,000 in the second year, and $3,000 in the third year.
  2. Postgraduate Students:
    • NZD $2,500–$15,000 applied to one or more years of study.
  3. Funds are applied directly to tuition fees upon or after enrollment completion.

  2. Online application detailing:
    • Motivation for studying at the University of Waikato.
    • Plans to serve as a global ambassador for the university.
