Brief Overview
The Faculty of Science at the University of Geneva is internationally renowned for its research across a wide range of scientific disciplines, including astronomy, biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, physics, pharmaceutical sciences, and earth sciences.
The Faculty hosts two Swiss National Centres of Competence in Research and numerous European projects.
Master’s programs provide strong academic and professional foundations, preparing students for careers in industry, academia, administration, communication, and media.
The Excellence Fellowship program, supported by external partners, is designed for outstanding students aiming to pursue a Master of Science in these fields.
Detail of the Scholarship
The Excellence Fellowship awards CHF 10,000 to CHF 15,000 annually, without requiring recipients to undertake teaching duties.
Initially granted for one year, it can be extended for the standard duration of the chosen Master’s program (three or four semesters), contingent on academic performance.
Eligibility Requirements
Open to top-performing students from any university.
Candidates must:
Have an excellent Bachelor’s degree record.
Meet the Master’s admission criteria.
Be selected based on the application file.
Note: Students already enrolled in a Master’s program at the Faculty of Science are ineligible.
Scholarship Values
CHF 10,000 to CHF 15,000 per year, renewable based on academic success.
Required Documents
A single PDF file containing:
A scan of national ID or passport.
Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages).
Transcript of Bachelor’s exams with all grades.
Motivation letter explaining specific scientific interests and reasons for choosing the University of Geneva.
(If available) Two reference letters from professors, preferably sent directly to the program’s email address.
(If applicable) Results from standardized exams such as GRE or TOEFL.
How to Apply for the Scholarship
Complete the enrollment process as per instructions on the Admissions Office website.
Submit proof of matriculation, which may include:
UNIGE student card (if already enrolled).
Email receipt titled “UNIGE-Application: Submission of your application” (for new applicants).
Submit the application online starting from January; an email will provide a personal link to the form upon registration.
Deadline
February 28, 2025 (for programs starting on September 15, 2025).
