The Shanghai Government Scholarship is available for international students from all countries to pursue undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD programs at Chinese universities in Shanghai, China. The scholarship offers two types of awards: Type A (Full Scholarship) and Type B (Partial Scholarship), with monthly stipends of up to ¥4,000 and no IELTS requirement.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.
  • Demonstrate strong academic and behavioral performance.
  • Meet the admission and language proficiency requirements for the program they are applying to.
  • Age Requirements:
    • Pre-college program: High school diploma and under 23 years.
    • Undergraduate program: High school diploma and under 25 years.

Scholarship Values

Type A (Full Scholarship)

  • Tuition fee exemption.
  • On-campus accommodation (shared double room with public restroom).
  • Monthly living allowance: ¥2,500.
  • Comprehensive medical insurance: ¥800/year.
  • Off-campus living allowance: ¥700/month if approved to live off-campus.

Type B (Partial Scholarship)

  • Tuition fee exemption.
  • Comprehensive medical insurance: ¥800/year.
