Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) 2025

Eligible Degree

  • Master’s (taught or research), Postgraduate Diploma, or PhD programmes at NFQ Levels 9 or 10.

Details of the Scholarship

  • Scholarships are awarded for one year of full-time, in-person study in Ireland.
  • Total of 60 scholarships available for the 2025/2026 academic year.
  • Covers all disciplines, contingent on program availability.
  • Scholars are required to reside in Ireland during their studies and participate in cultural exchange events.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be domiciled outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, and the UK.
  • Russian and Belarusian nationals are ineligible due to geopolitical reasons.
  • Candidates who previously held a GOI-IES are not eligible.
  • Must have a conditional or final admission offer from an eligible Irish Higher Education Institution (HEI).
  • Each applicant can submit up to three applications for different programs, provided they meet eligibility criteria.

  • Scholarships apply to the following HEIs in Ireland:
    • Atlantic Technological University
    • Dublin City University
    • University College Dublin
    • Trinity College Dublin
    • University of Galway
    • University College Cork
    • University of Limerick
    • And others (refer to the full list in the appendix).

Scholarship Values

  • A stipend of €10,000 for living costs.
  • Full tuition and registration fee waiver provided by the host institution.

Required Documents

  • Conditional or final admission offer from an eligible HEI.
  • Completed online application form.
  • Two academic references uploaded through the application portal.
  • A personal statement addressing academic achievements, extracurricular participation, and long-term goals.

How to Apply for the Scholarships

  1. Review eligibility criteria in the GOI-IES Call Document.
  2. Apply for admission to eligible HEIs.
  3. Submit your GOI-IES application online before the deadline.
  4. Ensure references are uploaded within the application portal.

Deadline

  • Application Deadline: 5:00 PM (Irish Time) on March 5, 2025.
  • Results Notification: Expected by early June 2025.
