In-Country/In-Region Programme Sub-Saharan Africa • DAAD
- The program aims to foster strong, internationally oriented higher education systems in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- It focuses on contributing to sustainable development in the region.
- Scholarships are granted for development-related Master’s or doctoral studies.
- The scholarships are for individuals planning to pursue a career in teaching and/or research.
- The program supports those aiming to work at higher education institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Who can apply?
- Graduates and postgraduates from Sub-Saharan Africa are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must have a first academic degree for a Master’s program or a Master’s degree for a doctoral program.
- The program supports those who want to pursue Master’s or PhD courses in their home country (In-Country scholarships) or in another Sub-Saharan African country (In-Region scholarships).
- Female applicants and candidates from less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to participate in the program.
What is supported?
Master and PhD studies in selected, development-related degree programmes
Duration of funding
- Funding is provided for the usual duration of the course.
- Master’s programs are generally funded for up to two years.
- PhD degree programs are typically funded for up to three years.
