In-Country/In-Region Programme Sub-Saharan Africa • DAAD

Who can apply?

  • Graduates and postgraduates from Sub-Saharan Africa are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must have a first academic degree for a Master’s program or a Master’s degree for a doctoral program.
  • The program supports those who want to pursue Master’s or PhD courses in their home country (In-Country scholarships) or in another Sub-Saharan African country (In-Region scholarships).
  • Female applicants and candidates from less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to participate in the program.

What is supported?

Master and PhD studies in selected, development-related degree programmes

Duration of funding

  • Funding is provided for the usual duration of the course.
  • Master’s programs are generally funded for up to two years.
  • PhD degree programs are typically funded for up to three years.
