The University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) is for excellent students from non-EU/EEA countries, applying for a Master’s programme at the University of Twente.
Recipients can participate in one of the three honours programmes: Research Honours, Design Honours, or Change Leaders.
Details of the Scholarship
Scholarship value: €3,000 – €22,000 for one year (approximately 50 scholarships available).
For two-year programmes, students may receive additional funding for the second year, subject to performance requirements.
Additional UTS can be awarded for the second year if students:
Obtain an average grade of 7 (out of 10) by the end of the third quartile of the first year.
Earn at least 50% of European Credits (EC) by the same period.

Eligibility Requirements
You must be a non-EU/EEA student.
You must have been provisionally admitted to one of the qualifying Master’s programmes at the University of Twente for the 2025/2026 academic year (starting in September).
You must have a valid student number.
You should not have graduated from a University of Twente undergraduate or postgraduate programme.
You must meet the requirements for an entry visa into the Netherlands (if applicable).
You must meet the general English language requirements:
IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT 90)
An additional subscore of 6.0 (or TOEFL iBT 20) in speaking skills.
You are not eligible for Dutch study loans.
You must be among the top 5-10% of your class.
UTS is not available for:
Dutch or current University of Twente students.
EU/EEA students.
Master’s programmes at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC).
Pre-Master’s programmes.

How to Apply for the Scholarship
Apply for a Master’s programme at the University of Twente.
Upon receiving a (conditional) admission letter, use your student number to apply for the UTS.
The application process is separate from the Master’s programme application.
UTS is not available for Dutch, EU/EEA students, current UT students, or students in pre-Master’s programmes.
Deadlines
Round 1:
Application opens: 15 October 2024, 09:00 CET.
Application closes: 1 February 2025, 16:00 CET (for programmes starting September 2025).
Round 2:
Application opens: 1 February 2025, 16:00 CET.
Application closes: 1 May 2025, 16:00 CET (for programmes starting September 2025).
If your application is rejected in round 1, you cannot reapply in round 2.
