- The Science@Leuven Scholarship is offered by the Faculty of Science at KU Leuven and its alumni association to support motivated and talented international students.

Eligible Programs
- Master of Astronomy and Astrophysics
- Master of Biophysics, Biochemistry and Biotechnology
- Master of Biology
- Master of Chemistry
- Master of Geography
- Interuniversity Master of Geology (for specializations in Geodynamics and Georesources or Surface Processes and Paleoenvironments only)
- Master of Mathematics
- Master of Physics
- Master of Statistics and Data Science (excluding QASS-programme)
- Master of Sustainable Development (ICP)
Note: Applicants to other programs will not be considered.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must:
- Not have previously studied or worked at KU Leuven.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from a non-Belgian university that qualifies them for the master’s program they are applying for.
- Not possess a master’s degree or PhD.
- Demonstrate excellent academic performance in previous studies, with at least a Distinction in the first year of their KU Leuven program.
- Provide evidence of strong English proficiency with minimum scores of:
- TOEFL: 94 internet-based (minimum 19 for reading, 18 for listening, 19 for speaking, and 21 for writing)
- IELTS: Overall score of 7 (at least 6.5 for reading, 6 for listening, 6 for speaking, and 6 for writing)
- Show strong motivation to join a master’s program at KU Leuven’s Faculty of Science.
- Submit two reference letters from internationally recognized professors.
- Agree to serve as an ambassador for the program.
Important: Only applicants who meet all requirements should apply.
Scholarship Values
- Up to €12,000 for one year.
- Scholarship includes an initial installation allowance, with the remaining funds disbursed as a monthly allowance.
- For two-year programs, the scholarship may be renewed for the second year based on excellent performance in the first year.
Required Documents
- Complete list of course titles and credits (Transcript of Records), including:
- Course size (in ECTS-credits)
- Results, preferably on the ECTS-scale (or equivalent with explanation)
- Short description of relevant courses (about half a page) following ECTS guidelines.
- Two reference letters from internationally recognized professors.
- Motivation letter for the program.
How to Apply for the Scholarship
- Apply for the master’s program of choice through the KU Leuven application tool, following application instructions carefully.
- Upload the required documents (transcript, course descriptions, reference letters, and motivation letter) through the KU Leuven admissions tool.
- After submitting the master’s application, apply for the Science@Leuven Scholarship via the provided link, including the master’s application confirmation email.
- Receive a confirmation email indicating successful registration for the Science@Leuven Scholarship.
