Eligibility Requirements
Must hold or expect to hold a Master’s degree by the time of enrollment.
Be a national of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan.
Age requirement: under 35 as of April 1, 2025.
Have excellent academic records.
Proficiency in English, demonstrated by an official test score (TOEFL iBT 72, IELTS 5.5, or CEFR B2 level minimum).
Be in good mental and physical health.
Reside outside Japan and not hold Japanese nationality at the time of application.
Must arrive in Japan on the designated date (end of September 2025).
Not have been awarded the Japanese Government Scholarship in the last three years.
Scholarship Values
Covers application, admission, and tuition fees.
Monthly allowance: 145,000 yen plus a regional allowance of 3,000 yen.
Round-trip airfare from the awardee’s home country.
Maximum duration: three years.

Abstract of thesis or equivalent academic project.

Two Letters of Recommendation, one from a Dean or similar authority, and one from a supervisor.
